The Hanna Instruments HI 981402-01 is a water-resistant meter for continuous measurement of pH in water treatment applications with manual two-point calibration, a single-line LCD screen, a combination plastic body pH electrode with double junction, and an outer casing with molded eye to hang the meter. A pH meter is commonly used to measure the pH of substances such as water, food, beer, or wine in lab, industrial and food applications. The single line LCD screen of this meter shows the current measurement and has an LED alarm that flashes red when the reading differs from the selected setpoint by more than + or - 0.5 pH. The alarm setpoint range is adjustable from 3 to 11 pH. Front trimmers allow manual calibration at two points. Electrical circuitry is sealed inside the water-resistant housing. The meter has a flat back to prevent rolling when placed on a table and can be wall mounted using the molded eye. The meter is supplied with the HI 1286 double-junction, plastic-body, gel-filled combination pH electrode with a flexible 2m (6.6') cable. The clog-resistant polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) junction prolongs probe life and improves accuracy. The Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connector is protected by a waterproof sleeve. The input impedance is 10 E 12 Ohm and the power supply is 115VAC. The meter also comes with a calibration screwdriver, 12VDC adapter, and instructions Specifications pH range0.0 to 14.0pH resolution0.1 pHpH accuracy+ or – 0.2Operating temperature0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F)Operating relative humidity100 percentDimensions86 x 110 x 43mm/3.4 x 4.3 x 1.7 inches (H x W x D)Weight150g/5.3oz.H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. A pH meter, also called a sensor or tester, is a device used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. A pH meter has either a portable or a benchtop body. Many portable meters are handheld devices. Some testers have an internal sensor, and may have a tip and body that fit inside of a container for measurement. A meter is commonly used in many different environments, from laboratories to field research and manufacturing facilities. Researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists use a pH meter in aquaculture, agriculture, wine-making, and water-testing, and for scientific applications. Some pH meters may measure additional parameters such as dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity (also called electro-conductivity or EC), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, resistivity, or oxygen reduction potential. Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.What's in the Box?HI 981402-01 pH meterHI 1286 pH electrodeCalibration screwdriver12VDC adapterInstructions
